Abstract

OSORIO HERRERA, Bayron León. Kenosis and Gift: Kenosis as a Divine Attribute. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2014, vol.41, n.96, pp.347-376. ISSN 0120-131X.

Jesus of Nazareth, the Incarnate Word of God, the Son of God, the Resurrected Christ, is the center and basis of Christian faith. Acknowledged as Son of God, he is the complete revelation of the Father. Within him, God presented himself in a new and decisive way. God has presented himself as an excess of love and through the complete gift of his person, he has revealed his real essence. Jesus understood the reality of love as absolute gift, as the total and disinterested self-emptying (kenosis), and as essence of his own divinity. He understood God as a God who gives himself in order to provide life and shower us with love in overabundance, which is materialized in his continuous giving of himself until the end of times so that others might have life.

Keywords : Event; Jesus; God; Gift; Kenosis.
