Abstract

NAVARRO S, Rosana E. From the human harmed to the human re-signified: an approach from the perspective of Etty Hillesum's spiritual experience. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2015, vol.42, n.97, pp.205-228. ISSN 0120-131X.

Though vulnerability is part of our own human condition, it might also become a manifestation of what is not human when it is the cause of a harmed humanity which makes many human beings to resist the apparent nonsense of their situation. We witness today a situation of wide and deep spiritual searches and of what some have called the "return to interiority". Therefore, aiming at the persistent search for human fulfillment and realization, the following paper addresses the path outlined by Etty Hillesum -a young and Jewish woman who died at Auschwitz- based on her own experience of vulnerability. By highlighting some aspects of her spiritual path, it is suggested for us to become part of a kind of contemporary spiritual experience that fosters humanity.

Keywords : Humanity; Human Touch; Vulnerability; Religious Experience; Interiority.
