Abstract

HENAO-MESA, Jairo Alberto. FROM RIBLAH TO US: HERMENEUTICAL-EXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE WITH THE END OF THE DEUTERONOMISTIC HISTORY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF CULTURAL STRUCTURES. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2018, vol.45, n.104, pp.383-409. ISSN 0120-131X.  https://doi.org/10.18566/cuetea.v45n104.a04.

The article is based on an insight coming from recent approaches -external to bible studies- to the social fabric of truncated histories all around the world. When applied to the reading of the end of a historical process recounted in the Deuteronomistic history, it leads to an interpretation of the history of nations, which is distinguished by the history of their institutions. In the Bible, such decline might be seen in some key passages at the end of the aforementioned corpus. Cross-cutting, the research is a hermeneutical-existential approach. The proposal in both approaches, secular and biblical, is the renewal of institutions from the standpoint of new axiological coordinates. Bearing this in mind, the proposal is presented in three parts along with some conclusions. It places emphasis on the possibility of reading biblical texts through comparative political coordinates.

Keywords : Old Testament; Deuteronomistic History; Existential Hermeneutics; Political Interpretation of Bible.
