Abstract

ALBADO, Omar César. The popular pastoral in the thought of the priest Rafael Tello. A contribution from Argentina to Latin American theology. Franciscanum [online]. 2013, vol.55, n.160, pp.219-245. ISSN 0120-1468.

Abstract This article presents an approach to the theological thinking of Rafael Tello. He is an Argentinian theologian, unknown beyond the borders of his country, who reflected upon the importance of culture and of the people for the evangelization of Latin America during forty years. Being Rafael Tello one of the founding theologians of the current known as «popular pastoral», the author of this article proposes to present some of the main issues which articulate his reflection. When he looks into his conception of popular culture and of modern culture he proposes that we go into a debate which, far from solved, reappears with renewed vitality in the current evangelizing, political and social challenge our continent is undergoing.

Keywords : Rafael Tello; popular pastoral; popular culture; modern culture; concrete man.
