Abstract

BECERRA MELO, Susana. The challenge of re-inventing life. Pastoral accompaniment to women in adversity. Franciscanum [online]. 2014, vol.56, n.161, pp.263-296. ISSN 0120-1468.

The article narrates the testimony of rape and forced displacement of a woman in the context of the Colombian armed conflict. The hermeneutical method and the approach to gender will help clarify the question brought up by the text whether this woman is capable of experiencing God's salvation after she has suffered this infamy. The answer is evidenced through Mileidys' testimony and the pragmatic study of the Parable of the Good Samaritan, where a pastoral of compassion is based on the sensitivity faced by human suffering. Mileidys' experiences salvation when she discovers compassion on the suffering face of another woman who leads her to act in a different manner, giving a new sense to her life which makes her become a compassionate human being who has experienced the salvation of God.

Keywords : Women; victims of sexual abuse; displaced forced; compassion; salvation.
