Within the context of the dichotomy problem between biblical exegesis and hermeneutics, this reflective paper derived from a research project, presents an analysis of the relationship between the defined patristic exegesis in two representative authors of the Greek and Latin traditions, Origen and Augustine, and the narrative exegesis. The author-reader-text categories articulate and demarcate the proposal which is methodologically based on the analysis of primary and secondary sources. The study aims to assess fundamental lines of patristic exegesis as suggestive elements to strengthen the proposal narrative exegesis «in the spirit of the Fathers».
