Resumen

RIBA, Lucía. Women's memorials: the sisterhood as an empowerment experience to resist the patriarchal violence. Franciscanum [online]. 2016, vol.58, n.165, pp.225-262. ISSN 0120-1468.

Framed in the memory of the martyrs of El Salvador, and in light of the current reality, where violence against women does not stop, we read a story of the book of Judges. After referring to Judges as one of the books of the Hebrew Bible where appear more women and very diverse, we analize the story of the death -femicide- of Jephthah's daughter, sacrificed to God by her own father. We analize the reactions both from the main characters as well as the narrator himself, pointing out, on one hand, the silence of some and, on the other, the memorial with what every year Israelite women remembered and denounced her death. We work later with the reality of sisterhood, as a way of empowerement for women. We recognize, then, in today's Latin America and Argentina new gestures of resistence made by women, gestures that, as collective sisterhood memorials, rescue from invisibilization and obscurity the victims of our days. Lastly, we point out particularly the ones from Madres of Plaza de Mayo in Argentina, linking it with the story of Judges 11 that we analized in the first part of the article.
