Abstract

This article focuses on Heidegger's notion of philosophy as universal phenomenological ontology, which requires as its basis a fundamental ontology, namely an existential analysis of Dasein. But the analysis has to grasp the human being in its wholeness, i.e. the human existence from the beginning to the end. Heidegger thinks the wholeness can be found only in the structure of being toward death. In this sense, the analysis of death can't be developed on the way of a description of the «objective» death of others. The author speaks here about a substitute theme. Also, he restricts the ontological interpretation to a this-wordly analysis. Then, going beyond some aspects of this point of view, the article presents Eugen Fink's and Bernhard Welte's ideas about dead persons, specially, in the case of relatives. Important concepts are, referring to this, demonical character, solemnity and silence. And on these grounds, it is possible to speak about a sacral presence in death.
