Abstract

MENDOZA, José María Felipe. Francisco Suarez, a renascentist scientist? A state of the art in terms of a bibliographical approach. Franciscanum [online]. 2020, vol.62, n.174, pp.4-4.  Epub Feb 21, 2021. ISSN 0120-1468.  https://doi.org/10.21500/01201468.4881.

The document develops a brief introduction to the absence or obscuration of the epistemic doctrine of Francisco Suárez under a triple speculative restriction: 1. it will exclusively refer to the contemporary researches on the thought of Suárez, where suggestions and general reflections on his epistemology would be observed; 2. it will also refer to the Metaphysical Disputes, and to the philosophers and theologians that are mentioned therein, and concerning this, to the controversial doctrinal relationship with Thomas Aquinas and his involvement with Duns Scotus. In turn, such considerations will remain expressed in the form of an always unfinished research, to the extent there is no possibility to explain the significant current research in all its dimensions.

Keywords : Francisco Suárez; Science; Metaphysics; Physics; Mathematics.
