LUQUE PULIDO, Pablo Emilio. Rom 1, 3-4: Sonship by recognition of Jesus Christ, Son of God with power. Franciscanum [online]. 2024, vol.66, n.182, pp.5-5.  Epub 25-Jun-2025. ISSN 0120-1468.  https://doi.org/10.21500/01201468.7629.

Rom 1:1 -7 is more than a simple biblical reference of the letter that St. Paul wrote to the Romans, it is especially an introduction which provides the key to understanding the whole letter. This article attempts to integrate a linguistic and rhetorical analysis with a historical approach, taking into account the cultural and social context of the first half of the first century A.D. Recognizing the cultural heritage of St. Paul: Jewish and Greco-Roman, this paper will show how the Apostle of the Gentiles makes use of a legal notion of the Greco-Roman law about the sonship and identity of men to demonstrate in Rom 1:3-4 the identity of Jesus Christ: the Son of God with power, which is the foundation of the new identity of believers: adopted sons of God in Rom 8.

Palavras-chave : Sonship by recognition; Son of God; identity; pater familias; adoption.
