Abstract

GUEVARA PULIDO, Fredy Orlando  and  DIAZ CORTES, Mario Enrique. Scleroderma. Acta Med Colomb [online]. 2006, vol.31, n.2, pp.83-91. ISSN 0120-2448.

Scleroderma is a disorder that affects the skin and some viscera, producing an alteration at immunologic, vascular and connective tissues level, which leads to the presence of fibrosis and systemic alterations. In this review we discuss the state of the art in the treatment options available so far, making a systematic analysis of each one of the articles approaching the subject and that are included in the data bases of Medline, Lilacs and Bireme. The treatments are divided according to the specific physiopathogenic mechanism on which they act according to the resolution of the disease. This is in order to make a broad approach to this subject and to provide clear guidelines about the present status of the treatment and the clinical implications of the new options available.

Keywords : systemic scleroderma; diffuse scleroderma; treatment.
