Abstract

SANDOVAL-ALZATE, Héctor Fabio; PARRA-GAMBOA, July Marcela  and  ANGULO-CASALIS, Andrea. Doege-Potter syndrome. Acta Med Colomb [online]. 2020, vol.45, n.3, pp.78-81.  Epub June 06, 2021. ISSN 0120-2448.  https://doi.org/10.36104/amc.2020.1503.

Doege-Potter syndrome is characterized by severe hypoglycemia associated with a fibrous tumor of the pleura. We present the case of a 67-year-old patient with a history of a fibrous tumor of the pleura, diagnosed through biopsy, who six months after this diagnosis experienced episodes of altered consciousness with disorientation, and documented hypoglycemia with Whipple's triad. A fasting test was positive for non-hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia and, given his history, he was diagnosed with Doege-Potter syndrome. He was treated surgically through total removal of the tumor mass, with subsequent resolution of the symptoms.(Acta Med Colomb 2020; 45. DOI:https://doi.org/10.36104/amc.2020.1503).

Keywords : pleural neoplasms; insulin-like growth factor 2.
