The article shows the dynamics of revenue and expenditure of Bogotá between 1819 and 1830. The presentation is organized chronologically in accordance with the administrative organization of national treasury, which highlights the existence of three periods showing a constant process of loss of centrality of the capital as the core collector of the fiscal surplus. This process was the outcome of the reaffirmation of administrative decentralization and it made progressive increase in the deficit of the capital's finances, a situation even worse if one takes into account the scarce capital investment in the economic activities of the city.
