Abstract

MORENO RUBIO, SERGIO. Use and Disuse of the Working Class as a Category in Social History: Why Insist on the Validity of Socio-historical Analysis?. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2014, vol.41, n.2, pp.291-327. ISSN 0120-2456.  https://doi.org/10.15446/achsc.v41n2.48789.

The article highlights the prolific legacy of social history and the need to reinstate and vindicate its totalizing project. Research on the working classes constitutes a controversial yet privileged setting to explore that possibility. The paper also analyzes the use and disuse of the working class as a category, in order to point out the importance of combining history, theory, and politics, and foster a "historiographical debate" in the epistemic and practical fields of social history.

Keywords : social class; social history; Marxism; postmodernism; historiography.
