QUEJADA CAMACHO, JUAN CARLOS. State Handling of Vacant Land: Growth Factor in the Department of the Cauca Valley, 1910-1920. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2016, vol.43, n.1, pp.135-133. ISSN 0120-2456. https://doi.org/10.15446/achsc.v43n1.55067.
The purpose of this article is to analyze the role of State intervention in the transfer of vacant land in the Department of the Cauca Valley from 1910 to 1920. Although there are some studies concerning the conflicts regarding legislation and property rights at a state level, we believe it necessary to contribute to the subject with an analysis on how the government handled the distribution and use of vacant land in a specific region. Consequently, land is considered a factor from a neo-institutionalist premise (market factor), susceptible to being transferred within the framework of domestic and external incentives. The analysis reflects that the regional handling of vacant land was done through various transfer and use mechanisms, where the state agency's role was decisive.
