RIVERA OLGUIN, PATRICIO. Red and Blue Ghosts: The Looting of Chilean Troops during the Pacific war. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2016, vol.43, n.1, pp.263-293. ISSN 0120-2456.  https://doi.org/10.15446/achsc.v43n1.55071.

The Pacific war (1879-1884) stands out as one of the fiercest conflicts in Latin America. It left a sad and bitter memory for the defeated (Peru and Bolivia), and a sense of triumph and glory on the part of the winner (Chile). However, there are also events that took place during the conflict that are ignored in the traditional history of the war, specifically, the numerous lootings by Chilean troops mostly in Peruvian cities and towns. This research contains data that verify these events and try to find an explanation through the review of the records left by those who took part in the conflict, in an effort to rebuild the history of the war from a social perspective.
