The article analizes Jaime Jaramillo's book El pensamiento colombiano en el siglo XIX (Colombian Thought in the 19th Century), published in 1964. It describes the contents, explores sources and evaluates its contribution to the history of ideas in the country. Also, it points out some limitations and highlights the precursor nature of the work in the field of intellectual history.
