The State of the art for studies on religious architecture in Colombia ratifies the Catholic predominance and the pioneer condition of these studies. A general inquiry evidenced the different tendencies, strengths, gaps, chronology and possible areas for further study. The article looks, in the main libraries of the country, publications of studies on religious art from the 20th century until 2008. This lead to the observation of a peak in production during the period of 1960 to 1990. Nevertheless, it found only information on Catholic architecture, and furthermore, that these studies are mainly descriptive and do not show significant theoretical analysis of the architectural facts.
