This paper analyzes Jaime Jaramillo Uribe's work in the context of the transformation of history as a scientific discipline with the addition of different mid-twentieth-century work paradigms and interpretations of history. This paper also analyzes his path as professor and university official to comprehend his work and, thus, establish some references that he had in hand to facilitate the institutionalization of History as a scientific discipline, the foundation of the History Department and Anuario, and the publication of Manual de Historia de Colombia. Hence, this paper offers an analytical perspective of Jaime Jaramillo Uribe's intellectual work and institutional management, and how they weren't the result of only his initiative but they were also connected to History's transformation in mid-twentieth century, to the possibilities his professional journey gave him and all the professionals that were formed by his side and who helped him to carry out these initiatives.
