Abstract

AMELA, Francisco A; VALLEJO CABRERA, Franco Alirio; MARTINEZ, César P  and  BORRERO, Jaime C. Genetic parameters of panicle lentgh in rice crop. Acta Agron. [online]. 2008, vol.57, n.4, pp.233-239. ISSN 0120-2812.

The investigation was carried out during 2007 and 2008 in two location of the Department del Valle del Cauca. Two contrasting progenitors were evaluated (long panicle: FL1028 and short: Norin 22) and the generations F1, F2, RC11 and RC21. The used design was randomized complete blocks with four replications. The variance analysis for the variable: panicle length, number of primary ramifications per panicle, number of secondary ramifications per panicle, number of branches per plant, number of panicle per plant, percentage of sterility showed significant differences (p<0.01) between generations. In CIAT the total genetic variance was 95% to the additive variance; in Jamundí in 68%. They were positive and significant correlations in both locations among panicle length and the variables number of primary and secondary ramifications, percentage of sterility and weight of a thousand grains; negative and significant for number of branches per plant and panicle number per plant with regard to the panicle length. The panicle length with relationship to percentage of sterility in Jamundí showed non significant correlation.

Keywords : Oryza sativa L.; genetic correlations; genetics components; coefficients of genetic variation.
