Abstract
PASTRANA, Félix Esteban; HERALDO S, Alviz and SALCEDO, Jairo G. Response of two cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) cultivars (CM 3306-4 y MCOL 2215) to irrigation in different hydric conditions. Acta Agron. [online]. 2015, vol.64, n.1, pp.48-53. ISSN 0120-2812. https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v64n1.43935.
This study assessed the yield of cassava cultivars MCO L2215 and CM 3306-4 in a silty clay soil under different hydric conditions: (1) rainfed conditions from planting to harvest (nine months) with a climatic offer of 841mm; (2) with supplemental irrigation from planting to harvest and total water supply of 1247mm, this treatment had the higher starch content in the field (27.45%), height (249 cm) and yield (30 t/ha) y (3) irrigated from the fourth month and a water supply of 998mm. The cultivar CM 3306-4 presented higher mean increases in yield (26.4 t/ha), height (249 cm) and starch content (26.64%) in the different treatments evaluated, showing significant differences from the other cultivar. The irrigation increased the yield of cassava, with significant differences between hydric condition and the parameters assessed. There wasn't significant difference between cultivars and starch content. This study shows the importance of irrigation in cassava production and serves as a reference for the application of irrigation technologies and future research.
