KAROL CHAVEZ, Héctor; MOSQUERA-ESPINOSA, Ana Teresa e OTERO OSPINA, Joel Túpac. In vitro propagation of Comparettia falcata Poepp. & Endl. (Orchidaceae) seeds using symbiotic and asymbiotic techniques. Acta Agron. [online]. 2015, vol.64, n.2, pp.125-133. ISSN 0120-2812. https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v64n2.42976.
Orchids depend on mycorrhizal fungi for seed germination and many unique characteristic of orchids are related to this interaction. In this paper, the seed germination of Comparettia falcate (Orchidaceae) was evaluated using both symbiotic (with two mycorrhizal fungi isolated from orchids and a Rhizoctonia solani strain isolated from rice) and asymbiotic techniques (with two growing media Knudson C and MS - Murashie & Skood) in laboratory conditions. There were significant differences among treatments. The best treatments for C. falcata seed germination was the asymbiotic method with Knudson C media and the symbiotic method with the rice pathogenic R. solani. Additionally, the symbiotic treatments had lower contamination than asymbiotic ones.
