Abstract

MARTINEZ GAMBA, Ricardo. Myrmecofauna associated to shade grown coffee in Quipile, Cundinamarca, Colombia. Acta Agron. [online]. 2018, vol.67, n.4, pp.461-470. ISSN 0120-2812.  https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v67n4.71881.

Ants are an important component in terrestrial ecosystems especially in shady coffee plantations due to their abundance and variety of microhabitats, for this reason in this study it was determined the diversity, composition and ants guilds associated with forest species and shady agricultural species (Ingasp., Tabebuia rosea) and (Musa sp, Citrus sp.) and coffee bushes present in four shady coffee plantations, on the sidewalk Guadalupe high of the municipality of Quipile, Cundinamarca. The samplings were carried out by means of fall traps and manual capture in the dry and rainy seasons. There were 82 morphospecies distributed in 30 genera and 9 subfamilies. The results showed sampling efficiencies between 78 and 82% with the CHAO2 and ICE estimators, a low similarity (<60%) was found between the farms and between the soil and tree trunk strata. Exclusive species are reported in farms such as Heteroponera microps, Heteroponera inca, Odontomachus erytrocephalus and the genus Proceratium and Neoponera chyseri are registered for the first time for Cundinamarca, which increases the richness of known ant species. On the other hand, a total of nine guilds were found in all the farms. In addition, genera such as Azteca, Crematogaster, Linephitema, Pheidole and Solenopsis are cataloged as potential biological controllers, evidencing that in these shady coffee plantations beneficial ecosystem balances are formed for the coffee.
