Abstract

ELEJALDE VARGAS, Cindy Cynthia  and  DAZA TORRES, Martha Constanza. Effect of mineral organic amendments on nitrogen leaching in two inceptisols. Acta Agron. [online]. 2021, vol.70, n.4, pp.338-344.  Epub Mar 29, 2023. ISSN 0120-2812.  https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v70n4.73962.

The application of organo-mineral amendments (EOM) in nitrogen (N) leaching in an acidic Andic Dystrudepts soil, and in a basic soil, Fluventic Haplusteps, using drainage lysimeters was evaluated. The treatments were: Control, vermicompost, poultry manure, montmorillonite, 3 mixing proportions between vermicompost, and montmorillonite (LP), and 3 mixing proportions between poultry manure and montmorillonite (GP); the proportions were different for each soil. In acidic soil the proportions varied between 0.64: 1 and 1.25: 1, in the basic, between 0.82: 1 and 1.25: 1, corresponding to the organic fertilizer: montmorillonite. Each treatment was fertilized with urea (46.0 %) at a dose of 150 kg/ha of N. The application of EOM significantly reduced water losses and the leaching of ammonium and nitrate, being more evident in the acid soil and in treatments with vermicompost. The LP2 treatment (1.2: 1) reduced the loss of water by 53.7 %, ammonium by 96.5 %, and nitrate by 32.3 % in the acid soil; while in the basic soil, the LP3 (1.22: 1) treatment reduced ammonium leaching by 55.1 % and water loss by 42.0 %. The GP3 treatment (0.97: 1), reduced ammonium leaching by 57.1 %, and nitrate leaching by 65.0 %.

Keywords : acidic soil; basic soil; montmorillonite; poultry manure; vermicompost.
