Resumen

RUIZ MOLINA, Victoria Estefanía  y  MUNOZ PEREA, Carlos Germán. Determination of basic infiltration speed in three areas of the hills around Roldanillo, Dagua and Pradera in Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Acta Agron. [online]. 2022, vol.71, n.2, pp.130-138.  Epub 01-Jun-2023. ISSN 0120-2812.  https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v71n2.83572.

Basic infiltration speed (Bis) is an important parameter in the irrigation system planning. However, this parameter is unknown for the most hill soils of the region of Valle del Cauca, Colombia. For this reason, the objective of this research was to determine the Bis in three hill areas measuring the wet area and dripper flow, using a new low volume device based on Marriotte dripper principle. The experiments were carried out in three hill areas of Roldanillo, Dagua and Pradera, (Valle del Cauca), cropped with avocado Hass, pineapple MD-2 and raspberry, respectively. The soil texture was as silt-loam, clay and silty clay, respectively. Water volumes of 2, 3, 3.5 and 4 liters were applied using the Mariotte dripper principle in all soils in a random design in each area. The wetted areas (Am) were obtained for each one of the water volumes tested with the free software ImageJ. It was found that the length of the wet diameter tends to stabilize between 2.26 liters to a depth of +/- 20 cm; therefore, basic infiltration rates of 38 mm hr-1, 1.29 mm hr-1 and 1.40 mm hr-1 were estimated for each area using the Kostiakov empirical model. It showed the relationship between the wetted area and the flow applied by the drippers associated with the instantaneous infiltration rate.

Palabras clave : wetted area; Mariotte dropper; Kostiakov model; ImageJ software; Soil texture.
