Abstract
GONZALES-ALVARADO, Antony Cristhian et al. In vitro germination response and physiological development of Guazuma crinita Mart. from sexual sedes. Acta Agron. [online]. 2024, vol.73, n.1, pp.16-24. Epub May 28, 2025. ISSN 0120-2812. https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v73n1.115223.
The objective of this study was to determine the in vitro physiological response and development of Guazuma crinita. The experiment, conducted with a completely randomized design, evaluated five treatments with different culture media and concentrations: MS (T2), ½ MS (T3), WPM (T4), ½ WPM (T5), and T1as a control, were the culture media was excluded and only agar was used. Each treatment consisted of 35 replicates, the experimental unit being a jar with four seeds. The variables analyzed were germination percentage (%G), aerial height (HP), number of nodes (NN), number of leaves (NH), fresh mass (MF), and dry mass (DM). The main results showed that the use of agar (T1) presented the highest germination percentage (63.28 %). Regarding physiological development, 100 % of the WPM médium (T4) presented the highest values in aerial height (17.59 cm/plant), number of nodes (5.25 nodes/plant), number of leaves (6.18 leaves/plant), fresh mass (192.8 mg/plant), and dry mass (24.1 mg/plant), as well as positive correlations between the variables studied. On the other hand, the PCA revealed different groupings for all treatments. These results highlight the importance of selecting appropriate culture media to optimize both germination and physiological development of G. crinita.
