Abstract

RIVEROS PEREZ, Efraín. Shock hemorrágico: Expresión del desequilibrio del sistema cardiovascular Análisis físico. Rev. colomb. anestesiol. [online]. 2005, vol.33, n.2, pp.99-102. ISSN 0120-3347.

Objective: To describe the physical variables responsible for hemorrhagic shock, with special emphasis on the venous system, and the previously published author´s concept of energy transformation. Methodology: A complementary review of the current literature and the author´s published theories was carried out. Analysis: The cardiovascular system could be conceived as an energy transformation machine. During hemorrhagic shock, there is an alteration at the level of the interaction between the venous system and the generation pump (the heart). This alteration is explained in terms of flows ruled by Ohm´s law, through the venous distensibility and stressed volume concepts. Conclusion: Mean systemic pressure, determined by venous distensibility and stressed volume, is the expression of the blockade of vascular energetic flow, and determines the reduction in venous return, cardiac output and mean arterial pressure, being the latter, responsible of the gross expression of hemorrhagic shock.

Keywords : Hemorrhagic shock.
