Public access to defibrillation maneuvers is well known as an effective public health measure of positive impact in the rate of mortalities within the communities. The use of AED (automated external defibrillator) by trained personal whether is physician or not, placed in strategic points or easily available in case of sudden death have proven to save many lives. The roll of scientific societies in educational and training process for the community is a key factor to ensure basic and advance techniques in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The anaesthesiologist as member of the CPR teams and as fundamental part of the educative process must know the standard procedures of these devices.
