This article shows the discursive strategies used by Juan Manuel Santos in his inaugural address, delivered on August 7 of 2010. These strategies were used by the President (the enunciator) in order to establish the ideology of National Unity as the pillar of his administration. The theoretical-methodological guidelines for the process of textual analysis are provided by Duranti's speech acts theory (2000) and Gallucci's theory regarding legitimization strategies (2005). The article is divided into four parts: introduction, formulation of the ideology, proposals, and conclusions referring to the previous administration.
