Abstract

HIPPERDINGER, Yolanda Haydee. LEXICAL INCORPORATIONS IN ARGENTINEAN SPANISH: ON THE ADAPTATION OF ADOPTIONS. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2013, vol.26, n.2, pp.125-147. ISSN 0120-338X.

The article discusses the mechanisms involved in the adaptation of lexical incorporations from European languages spoken internationally, particularly at the phonic level, into the Spanish of the dialect area of Buenos Aires, Argentina. To this effect, materials were obtained through participative observation and attention to the media. Special attention is paid to the phenomenon known as specific conventionalization, which consists in the "emancipation" of specific graphemic-phonological correspondences, in order to apply them regularly to incorporations with the same origin, even if the complete configurations of the latter do not coincide with respect to their degree of adaptation.

Keywords : Buenos Aires Spanish; lexical incorporations; adaptation; specific conventionalization.
