This paper is part of a research project on the relationship between translation, ethics, and issues of identity and gender. In this particular case, the performance of the famous Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges, as a translator of Orlando by Virginia Woolf, is analyzed. For this purpose, gender issues addressed by the author throughout the book are discussed, as well as its relation to subsequent feminist views. In this regard, several changes undertaken by the translator are analyzed and examined within the framework of the translator's ethics, and the prevailing ideology when making translation decisions. In the results, it is evident how translation serves, among other things, as a catalyst for ideas and how, in some cases, the translator's ethics is permeated by particular ideologies that determine the final outcome.
