Abstract
MARCHESE, Mariana C. FIRST AND SECOND PHASES OF THE METHOD OF LINGUISTIC CONVERGENT APPROACHES: A CONTRIBUTION TO THE STUDY OF SOCIAL PROBLEMS FROM A CDA PERSPECTIVE. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.2, pp.85-109. ISSN 0120-338X. https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v29n2.60190.
Within an interpretive paradigm, the Method of Linguistic Convergent Approaches is presented and its first and second phases are explained by using a qualitative and an inductive methodology of cda. This method that focuses on the study of social problems through discourse delves into the analysis of texts (written and oral of diverse genre) as socio-discursive units. First, examples are provided of how relevant discourse categories for the study of social problems are elicited, especially in relation to housing problems in the city of Buenos Aires. It is also discussed about how the Theory of Information Focusing, specifically the study of focal categories is incorporated into the method. Finally, it is underscored that the method, as it helps to examine the beliefs system of social subjects, also enables the transition to social reflection.
