Abstract

RIVERA BERNAL, Fernando Alfredo. IDENTITY «TIMESCAPES»: FROM NEIGHBOR TO PATRIOT. LOGICS OF VISIBILITY AND PSYCHIC ECONOMY IN THE 18 TH AND 19 TH CENTURIES. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2017, vol.30, n.2, pp.9-51. ISSN 0120-338X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v30n2.65786.

At least two types of semiotic-cultural repertoires can be identified in a timescape: collective practices that incorporate evaluative divisions and categorizations of the social world, and forms of construction of social identity and political power by means of symbolic geographies. From this perspective, the article examines the correlation between logics of social visibility and their ensuing identity configuration in New Granada during the transition from the 18th to the19th century, as the regulative interweaving of a specific psychic economy, of a regime for addressing and producing the Self.

Keywords : timescape; logics of visibility; psychic economy; neighbor; patriot.
