Abstract

MOLLINA MEJIA, Jorge Mauricio. TOWARD THE ANALYSIS OF RICHARD WAGNER'S WORK BY MEANS OF COMPUTATIONAL LINGUISTICS. Forma funcion, Santaf, de Bogot, D.C. [online]. 2019, vol.32, n.1, pp.125-148. ISSN 0120-338X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v32n1.77419.

The article explores the relationship between music and linguistics by analyzing a significant part of Richard Wagner's work by using computational linguistics tools. A corpus of Wagner's librettos was compiled and the Corpus-Based Linguistics methodology was used. The purpose of the study is to analyze Wagnerian texts and to find the relationship between music and linguistics from a perspective that underscores the German author's Leitmotive, thereby scrutinizing the behavior of a lyrical work from a linguistic point of view.

Keywords : corpus-based linguistics; computational linguistics; Leitmotiv; music; lyric work; Wagner.
