Abstract

SAYAGO, Sebastián. Argumentative chainings in news texts. Forma. func. [online]. 2022, vol.35, n.1, e6509.  Epub Dec 12, 2021. ISSN 0120-338X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v35n1.86509.

In this work, I develop a layered model of the local argumentativity of news texts, in order to describe and interpret the causal links of the discursive manifestation of ideology. In general lines, the theoretical perspective corresponds to critical discourse studies, although, given the particularity of the study, I take contributions from currents of a more structuralist tradition, such as Anscombre and Ducrot's theory of argumentation in language, and grammatical description of causality published by the Real Academia Española and the Asociación de Academias de la Lengua Española. In order to test the usefulness of the proposed model, I analyze news texts from the Argentine press. The selected case is the recontextualization of some controversial statements by former Security Minister Patricia Bullrich.

Keywords : local argumentativity; argumentative chaining; ideology; recontextualization; news texts.
