Abstract

GARZON FONTALVO, Eveling. Teaching Latin for future historians: a didactic proposal based on case study methodology. Forma. func. [online]. 2022, vol.35, n.2, e1018.  Epub May 31, 2022. ISSN 0120-338X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/fyf.v35n2.91018.

At the university level, the teaching of Latin is not exclusively part of the programs in Classical Philology, but it is also included (generally in an optional way) in other university degrees; this is the case of History degree. This article offers a didactic proposal to adapt part of the Latin language courses to the specific professional profile of History students, using the case study methodology. From this approach, two activities are designed to address some of the problems that students may encounter when working with primary sources in Latin (translations and quotations). This proposal constitutes, ultimately, the design of a research project that aims to explore the scope of the above methodology in the teaching of classical languages.

Keywords : teaching; Latin; didactic proposal; case study; history; primary sources.
