This article presents the results of an investigation which identifies, categorizes and analyzes each of the conditional sentences in Fuero de Avilés and from this information answers the following questions: What level of integration are conditional sentences put in?, What is their semantic function? How is the condition stated in this important linguistic testimony? The data are analyzed in light of functional grammar (Dik, 1997) and use a statistical procedure in order to establish the linguistic behavior of these sentences
