This work investigates the relationship between children event representation and their narrative abilities. With that purpose reports of specific events produced by two children of 5 years old in two different context of elicitation were analyzed and compared. The analysis taken into account: narrative type, use of narrative resources and interactional strategies. Results showed differences in the degree of narrative competence depending on the cognitive context of the task. It seems that children performance is influenced by event structure in the episodic memory
