Since certain difficulties encountered in academic writing of university students revealed the need to know how they built their writing career. We set out to analyze the concept on academic writing have advanced university students of languages in order toinfer the type of relationship they have with it and develop a subsequent improvement in the teaching of the activity. We applied a biography of writer, in the context of a qualitative methodology. The theoretical references are part of a sociocognitive approach on academic writing, specifically with regard to text placed in the context of higher education
