Abstract

DORIA CORREA, Ruy  and  CASTRO SIERRA, Maribel. Academic Reading and Writing in Colombia: A Challenge for the Orientation of Educational Politics in the Framework of an Inter-University Investigation. Leng. [online]. 2012, vol.40, n.2, pp.447-468. ISSN 0120-3479.

A research project on academic reading and writing in Colombian universities aims to propose policy guidelines. The reflection from the findings confirms that both disciplinary and professional heritages define, in part, what is read and written; that scientific writing and creative writing are understood differently in public and institutional policies; and, thus, academic writing is a heterogeneous concept. Consequently, a policy guideline should take into account differences tied to the institutional histories and disciplinary and professional traditions of the universities
