In this paper, some diachronic variations of politeness strategies in courtship in Antioquia in 2004 and 2012 in post-adolescents (adult people between 20 and 25 years) belonging to medium and high stratum (4, 5 & 6) in Antioquia are identified. The article is composed of three parts: 1) Theoretical support of verbal politeness in courtship in Antioquia, 2) politeness in courtship as solidarity or distance, and finally, 3) evaluation of the variations found in the sample. Such variations were analyzed on the basis of verbal politeness theoretical support. The collecting instruments were two: a) interviews and b) recordings of flirting moments. Finally, the analysis showed considerable variations in public image, acts against image and cost-benefit relationships
