Abstract

GARNICA, Diana Nivia  and  GONZALEZ, Beatriz Valles. An approach to the foundations of the evaluation of reading comprehension in deaf people: the Venezuelan Case. Leng. [online]. 2014, vol.42, n.2, pp.259-288. ISSN 0120-3479.

This study was aimed at understanding the theoretical underpinnings of the evaluation of reading in deaf schoolchildren, already being analyzed in researches carried out in Venezuela. The specific objectives were to examine the psychological basis of this assessment, to identify its linguistics foundations, and to study its pedagogical orientations. The research had a documentary character. The results reveal concurrence regarding the linguistic area, but not all the studies revised offer clarity about the pedagogical and psychological basis. For a future educational purpose, it is suggested to develop an educational and evaluative proposal of reading, framed within the theoretical and methodological grounds of the Bilingual-Bicultural model
