Abstract

BONILLA, Luisana Bisbe. Discursive functions of direct quotes in the presentation and interpretation of research data in Social Anthropology academic articles. Leng. [online]. 2015, vol.43, n.2, pp.271-300. ISSN 0120-3479.

The goal of this research is to identify the discursive functions of textual quotes in the sections results, discussion and conclusions of twenty (20) articles of Social Anthropology. The analysis of the data consisted of the application of a series of descriptive categories of the functions of direct quotes based on the proposals of Beke (2008a, 2008b, 2011a, 2011b), Bolívar (2004), Gallardo (2006, 2008, 2010), and Teberosky (2007), among others. Our findings show that the quotes are mostly used to support what is said by the researchers and make content more comprehensible for the reader

Keywords : direct quote; discursive functions; research article; Social Anthropology.
