Resumen
BACHELOR, Jeremy W.. Interdependence of pragmatics and grammar in the learning of Spanish as a Foreign Language. Leng. [online]. 2016, vol.44, n.2, pp.147-175. ISSN 0120-3479.
This study expands upon previous research examining the relationship between grammar and pragmatics in foreign languages. While other studies maintain that pragmatics depends on grammar, we propose that both are highly related and that grammar also depends on pragmatics. To this end, 72 beginning students of Spanish took pre and post grammar and pragmatics tests (specifically regarding invitations, requests, apologies and rejections). The experimental group, whose only difference was receiving pragmatic interventions, improved considerably more, both in grammar and pragmatics, suggesting that pragmatic instruction positively influences grammar
