Abstract

SIERRA OSPINA, Nelly  and  TAMAYO CANO, Luis Hernando. Implementing the Content-Based Instruction Adjunct Model in a Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Chemistry Course at a colombian public university. Leng. [online]. 2016, vol.44, n.2, pp.341-369. ISSN 0120-3479.

In this article we share the experience of implementing the Adjunct Model of Content Based Instruction (CBI) in a Pharmaceutical Chemistry School. In this qualitative study, semi structured interviews and a questionnaire were the data collection techniques; data analysis was conducted using Grounded Theory. Results indicate gains in students' linguistic competence and their motivation. Also, students reported linguistic difficulties and the high academic demand of the course as some of the challenges. By the same token, teachers mentioned the importance of the administrative support and the need of planning this kind of courses ahead of time
