This paper proposes a new classification for the dialects of Colombian Spanish based on recent dialectological and linguistic data, a new model of the spatial variation of language grounded on the concept of scale, and consideration of all the continental Colombian territory. The study identifies five new geographic varieties of Spanish, integrates seamlessly and coherently the varieties of Colombian Spanish with those of the Americas, and identifies some new research avenues in the field of Spanish Dialectology in Colombia.
