The existence of breaks or changes in discursive units can affect the accessibility of the referents in discourse. This can motivate the choice of highly explicit linguistic forms or discursive strategies that contribute to referential tracking. This study focuses on the observation of the limits between textual units in Quichua from Santiago del Estero (Quechua, Argentina) and its consequences in the expression of referents and their tracking in the discourse. A corpus of texts in Quichua from Santiago del Estero was compiled from primary and secondary sources. The corpus was segmented and analyzed into sections, following the development of the narrative topic. As a result, it was identified that the different types of dependent clauses (relative and adverbial) function as guides for the flow of information, especially when they are present in transitions from one portion of the text to another.
