Abstract

HERNANDEZ RODRIGUEZ., Ernesto. Written suppositional argumentative intentionality to try to explain a literary text at an upper secondary level. Leng. [online]. 2023, vol.51, n.2, pp.386-415.  Epub July 31, 2023. ISSN 0120-3479.  https://doi.org/10.25100/lenguaje.v51i2.12036.

This research analyzes the written argumentative intentionality of 34 high school students when trying to assume a position and support it through assumptions about the death of the protagonist in the novel Las batallas en el desierto by José Emilio Pacheco. The study contemplates the intentionality, when trying to become aware of the written performance to improve it, the dialogical and contextualized argumentation about inconclusive contents and opposing positions. The research methodology provides study categories on argumentative intentionality, textuality, content, textual representations of students and the opposition of positions. The results show the argumentative performances based on assumptions and attempts to strengthen one's own position as the most convincing. The conclusions highlight the diversity of practices and argumentative and textual performances when trying to make sense of the end of the novel.

Keywords : argumentation; writing; literature; interpretation; intentionality.
