GALINDO, Angelmiro and MURILLO, Andrés Felipe. Implementation of the Integral Bilingualism Program Quindío Bilingüe y Competitivo: Perceptions of intervening actors. Leng. [online]. 2024, vol.52, n.1, e20412826. Epub Apr 16, 2024. ISSN 0120-3479. https://doi.org/10.25100/lenguaje.v52i1.12826.
This qualitative research with a case study design explored the perception of English teachers and school principals of official educational institutions (IE) regarding the project: Programa Integral de Bilingüismo: Quindío Bilingüe y Competitivo 2018-2019 (PIB-QUINDIO). Data were obtained through sociodemographic questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The interviews focused on three main categories: (1) Teacher training, (2) Creation of bilingual and bicultural environments, and (3) Strengthening of evaluation, follow-up, monitoring, and control processes. The sample included 13 language-licensed teachers (DLI), 17 licensed in other areas (DOA), and four school principals. The analysis revealed that both teachers and principals supported the program PIB-QUINDIO, although they identified areas for improvement in teacher training and bilingual environments. It was concluded that teachers and principals advocate for the implementation of strategic bilingualism promotion programs, according to the socio-educational context and needs.
