ROJAS LOPEZ, Ronald Andrés. Critical literacy and school debate. Research in the ETITC High School - 2022. Leng. [online]. 2024, vol.52, n.2, e20613548. Epub 12-Dic-2024. ISSN 0120-3479. https://doi.org/10.25100/lenguaje.v52i2.13548.
School debate represents a didactic alternative for the development of processes associated with critical literacy in the education of adolescents. In 2022, a qualitative-interpretive study was implemented in the high school of the Escuela Tecnológica Instituto Técnico Central (Bogotá, Colombia) with the aim of establishing the effectiveness of competitive school debate training on critical literacy learning. The results indicated specific benefits of debate training under the World Schools competition model, which led to better student performances in organizing relevant information about a study phenomenon; the production and strategic evaluation of argumentative ideas; and assertive interaction in group communicative tasks. This article presents the characterization of the educational scenario in which the experience was developed, the conceptual synthesis of reference for the pedagogical and investigative design and the balance of findings and conclusions.
Palabras clave : critical literacy; school debate; focused argumentation; assertive communication.
